Visiting a pediatric urgent care instead of the ER can help save you time and money. A children’s urgent care can handle most nonemergency situations, such as minor injuries, cuts, sprains, strains, and most common childhood illnesses.

Wait times are typically significantly less when you visit one of our urgent care centers compared to the ER. Additionally, an ER visit may cost more, depending on your deductible, whereas an urgent care visit is frequently covered by insurance. 

However, the ER might be the best choice if your child needs emergency care for difficulty breathing or a severe injury.

For some of our patients, being in an unfamiliar environment and meeting a new provider can create feelings of anxiety and stress. That’s why we partnered with Autism Speaks to help make our Elwood Pediatric Urgent Care more accessible to patients with autism spectrum disorder and their families. This includes special training for our team members and modifying our pediatric urgent care centers to achieve an autism-friendly designation and promote a safe, sensory-friendly environment for all.
